If you have enough bombs, you can just put them down until the Golden Lute drops on the ground. Because of this, I would recommend just bombing the Necrodancer's stage to progress the fight. However, this makes the first phase of the fight extremely difficult because of the careful maneuvering required to hit all of the switches. This is such a bullshit design decision, but it is manageable if you come prepared for it. For instance, if the two characters are in a formation where they are in a line with one space between them and you move either to the left or the right, one of the two characters will take damage every beat from the no-return tiles. Both Cadence and Dorian create red no-return tiles, and they will hurt either character, no matter who created them. I would recommend stockpiling bombs if possible, though, because they make the Necrodancer fight much more manageable.Įasily the worst part of the achievement is the fight with the Necrodancer. Boots do not protect against the no-return tiles, so use whatever you prefer there as well. Also, items like cookies are some of the best consumables because they give 6 buffer beats per stack, allowing for a lot more freedom of movement. If you lunge onto the space you were just on, you WILL take damage, so it is best to just use stationary weapons. Use equipment you are comfortable with, but weapons with a lunge, like the rapier, I would HIGHLY advise against using. This mode requires you to overwrite much of your muscle memory to even make it past Zone 1. Some of the only advice I can give for the most part is to practice. Whenever you move, you will either have to move forward, to the sides, or waste a beat somehow, otherwise you will take damage. This is because if you go into a corridor with only one way out, you will not be able to retrace your steps without wasting a beat. Also, buffering of any kind will be even more important than it already is. As a result, you will need to relearn how to play with Cadence because many of your old techniques of dealing with enemies and stalling will not be possible anymore. What I mean is that only the ring of courage's kill dash invincibility and shields will protect you from the damage these tiles cause. There are no ways to avoid this damage without invincibility. Essentially, you can never move to the tile you were just on without taking damage. This mode causes the tile you were at the beat before the current one to turn red, and it will cause half of a heart of damage to you if you step on it. Most other weapons are useless because Tempo already one-shots every enemy.No Return Mode is a new game mode that was added with the Amplified DLC, and this achievement is an absolute pain in the ass. If you come across another blood weapon, then pick it up! The new blood weapon will likely be one step above the blood dagger and is just about the only healing opportunity Tempo gets during the game. You have to hope the useful items are in the chests that are conveniently located along your path. However, because you can’t backtrack or go to the shop with Tempo, it’s very difficult to pick up armor and healing items as you play. Tempo starts with the blood dagger and can use any weapon he picks up. If you’re not familiar with the enemies found in each zone, or need to refresh your memory, then play through each of the zones first before making attempts with Tempo. The mini bosses are zone specific, so no banshees in Zone 1, although each level now has two mini bosses that need to be killed before the stairs open up. So, for Zone 1, there are green slimes among golems, shove monsters, devils, blademasters and more. The game may vastly increase the number of enemies in each level to help you replenish your moves, but the enemies from all of the zones are included. Practice Each of the Zones with Another Character First Although the purchase does completely refill your number of available moves, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to make it out and to an enemy before the curse strikes. However, you will rarely have enough steps to go in the shop, make a purchase, and come back out with enough steps to get to an enemy to kill. Although he receives the same amount of gold from each enemy (depending on the multiplier), the levels are swamped with enemies to help the player get through each level. It can be tempting to visit the shop if you pass it because Tempo accumulates gold much more quickly. Once you can take the stairs, then take them. There also isn’t much point in backtracking or going to an adjacent room just to kill the enemies because you risk running out of moves before getting back to the stairs. Getting stuck in a dead end means you can’t find any enemies or items in time to replenish your moves before you die. Because of the 16-move limit, you want to pay attention to the compass’s arrow and head in the direction of the stairs.
